Privacy Policy
We do not want your data. We built this instrument so you could keep time without surrendering it.
No accounts. No passwords.
You do not create an account to use The Throne of El. There is no login, no email list, and no profile stored on our servers.
Everything is computed in your browser
The calendar, moon phases, solar gates, personal 19-year cycle, and all astronomical alerts are calculated locally on your device. Your birth date and chosen location never leave your browser.
What we store on your device
We use your browser's local storage to remember your preferences:
- Your selected city, latitude, longitude, and timezone
- Your calculation mode preference (apparent or mean)
- Your birth date, if you choose to use the personal cycle tracker
- Your notification settings and practice streaks
- Your pilgrimage log entries, if you add any
This data stays on your device. If you clear your browser storage, it is gone. We cannot access it, recover it, or sync it.
City search uses Open-Meteo
When you search for a city in the location picker, your typed query is sent to the Open-Meteo Geocoding API to retrieve matching place names, coordinates, and timezones. Open-Meteo does not require an API key and does not ask for your identity. You can also enter coordinates manually or use device GPS without making any network request for search.
No tracking, no analytics, no cookies
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook pixels, tracking cookies, fingerprinting, or any other surveillance technology. We do not sell, rent, or share data because we do not collect it.
Shared images and downloads
When you generate a “This Day” image card, a printable summary, or a PDF, the file is created entirely in your browser. We do not see the image, the summary, or its contents. If you choose to share it through your device's native share sheet, that action happens through your operating system, not through us.
Browser notifications
If you enable reminders, they are scheduled and shown by your own browser while the page is open. We do not send push notifications from a server and we do not store notification preferences anywhere except your device.
Astronomy disclaimer
The astronomical figures are computed with published algorithms and compared against reference ephemerides. The readings of ancient texts are interpretations offered for study and personal practice. Nothing here is medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice, and no outcome is promised.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how data is handled, we will update this page and note the date at the top. Because no data leaves your device, material changes are unlikely.
